The Victoria Day Award for a Community Organisation
goes to a group which is the back-bone to many local communities, it
provides community connection and support to 1000’s of people across all
four corners of Victoria.
It’s
an
organisation based on friendship and self-development opportunities for
women, regardless of race, religion or politics. It is a volunteer
organisation where women from rural and urban areas can meet as one. |
Founded in Victoria in 1928 and represented today by 40 groups across the
state, they have served the Victorian community through wars, droughts,
floods and fires.
The Association is all about assisting people both in the good times and the
tough times in many different ways from food, educationally, and
financially.
The amazing community service of the group was highlighted in the recent
Victorian floods. When the homes of their volunteers were affected by the
recent floods, they were the first on the front line to help. |
