Community Connect program
The Community Connect program is aimed at connecting members and their
communities with access to tools and financial advice.
It has been developed to align with the Australian Government’s National
Financial Literacy Strategy and aims to build the financial skills of
targeted groups who have been identified as standing to benefit from
additional financial education. These include women, university students,
pre-retirees and redundant workers.
In Geelong, for example, VicSuper has partnered with the Geelong Regional
Local Learning and Employment network to deliver initiatives that directly
support skills development and employment in the region.
VicSuper’s award winning Super Women Money program is a financial education
initiative specifically targeted at women. Over two thirds of VicSuper
members are women and they currently retire with half the super of their
male counterparts. The program was launched in 2012 and 11,000 women have so
Advocating for Positive Change Program
VicSuper has identified areas where it can play a corporate advocacy role to
encourage positive economic, social and environmental change.
VicSuper proudly advocates to address the gender super gap, holding events
and participating in public policy.
It is also a founding member for the Future Economy Group which engages
directly with the Victorian Government on issues relating to the economy and
VicSuper is committed to addressing community disadvantage and this year is
the major corporate sponsor for Melbourne City Mission’s ‘Sleep at the G,’
which raises funds to support young Victorians living without shelter.
Employee Community Involvement program
VicSuper encourages its employees to participate in volunteering and
fundraising activities with local charities.
VicSuper currently has community partnerships with Conservation Volunteers
Australia, FareShare, Give Where You Live (Geelong) and Latrobe Community
Staff are also encouraged to participate in regular activities such as the
Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea, Ride to Work Day and Club Red (Red
Cross Blood Donation program)
